Turning Off Comments

nospam1Because of an unrelenting barrage of attempted SPAM comments to photographs, I will be disabling the comment feature on this blog for the time being.

If I can figure out how to block the spammers and still have comments, I’ll turn the feature back on in the future.

UPDATE: I think I identified the problem. I have spent the past 90 minutes editing all of my posts to correct what I think was the cause. If that effort succeeds in eliminating or significantly decreasing the crushing flow of SPAM comments, I will turn the comment function back on.  Will know shortly.

Online Empire Expands!

As an author trying to get my books out to interested readers, I find that I need to occasionally shift the focus of my online presence.  Now is such a time.

I have created a Pour Me Another specific website, PourMeAnotherGuide.com.  This new site will be my primary online sales presence for Pour Me Another.

This site, OpinionatedWineGuide.com will remain my primary wine blogging site, including supporting Pour Me Another with updates about Gold Country wines and wineries.  But the blogging will expand to cover my upcoming wine books subjects as well.

In that vein, I am happy to announce that my second book, Wine 101, which will be published this Spring (even if it kills me), now has it’s own website.  The Wine 101 sales site is Wine101thebook.com.

The third book’s website will be created once I have a publishing date set.  But one book at time.

Pour Me Another Kindle Edition Released!

Pour Me Another: An Opinionated Guide to Gold Country Wines

Pour Me Another is one of the highest rated books about California Wines at Amazon.com

As promised yesterday, the Kindle edition of Pour Me Another: An Opinionated Guide to Gold Country Wines, the definitive guide to Gold Country wines, is now ready for purchase!

The Kindle edition is basically the same as the paper back version, containing the same information about 68 different wineries in Amador and El Dorado County.  It also provides recommendations about where to stay and where to eat.

The differences from the paper back?  First, obviously, it’s not paper! Second, the Kindle edition does not have the blank tasting note pages.  I found making notes on my Kindle slow and painstaking, so I reluctantly removed those pages from the Kindle edition.  I still encourage you to keep tasting notes, however.  It’s really important to help you remember what you’ve tasted and help you develop your palate.

The best part of the Kindle edition is that you don’t need a Kindle to read books on the go!  Just go to the Amazon Kindle store and download the FREE Kindle app for your computer, tablet or cell phone.  Then you can read Pour Me Another on whatever device you choose! I have a Kindle app on my Droid and can read my books anywhere.  Just what you need when you’re traveling Gold Country’s back roads.

Pour Me Another Kindle Coming!

Pour Me Another: An Opinionated Guide to Gold Country Wines

Pour Me Another is one of the highest rated books about California Wines at Amazon.com

At long last, and by popular demand, Pour Me Another: An Opinionated Guide to Gold Country Wines, will be available in the Kindle format tomorrow, 10 January 2012!

The Kindle edition contains all the same information about 68 different wineries in Amador and El Dorado County, along with recommendations about where to stay and where to eat.  The only difference, other than the fact it’ll be on the Kindle, is that the Kindle edition will not have the blank tasting note pages.  When I tried making notes on my Kindle it was not convenient or easy, so I figured nobody would want that feature in the Kindle edition.

The best part of the Kindle edition is that you don’t need a Kindle to read it on the go!

Watch this space for the link to the Pour Me Another Kindle edition page, coming tomorrow!
