It was pretty hot here in the Bay Area earlier this week. While it has cooled off now, the start of the week was definitely White Wine Weather (the other “www”).
I opened up a bottle of a 2009 Verdelho from Nine Galbles Vineyard. It is such a nice wine. The color is the palest amber imaginable. The wine has a decent body to it, not watery at all.
The nose is very floral. I almost want to say it smells like honeysuckle, but that’s not quite it.
It tastes wonderful. Just off-dry is is slightly sweet with a creamy mouth feel, not watery at all. The flavor is of pears and peaches with over tones of vanilla and honey. This is similar to a Viognier, but less sweet.
2009 Verdelho, Shenandoah Valley CA
